Yes! Yoga is not only about flexibility. There are health benefits alone that make yoga a great practice to start.
The most important thing for you to wear is something that you can be comfortable in. Here are a few suggestions:
  • You should wear something that will not limit your movement
  • Something that is form fitting is best (but it does not have to be skin tight) as it will be easier for the teacher to assist in alignment corrections if needed.
  • It is traditional to practice in bare feet.
  • Do not apply lotion to your hands and feet before class.
It is best not to eat for up to 2 hours before a yoga class. There are many postures that affect your internal organs that would make your work-out unpleasant on a full stomach. If you must eat try to eat a light snack only.

Also, make sure you hydrate! Here in Arizona you can not have enough water!
There are many health benefits, but here are a few:
• Musculoskeletal flexibility and joint range of motion increase
• Posture improves
• Strength and resiliency increase
• Endurance increases
• Sleep improves
• Pain decreases
• Anxiety and depression decrease
• Balance improves
• Concentration Improves
I have use a mixture of Tea Tree Oil and Geranium. I fill an 8oz spray bottle with water and put 5 drops of Tea Tree Oil and 5 drops of Geranium into the spray bottle. Spray this mixture lightly over your mat and rub dry with a rag. This will take off the dirt. Also the Tea Tree will help disinfect your mat. You can find the essential oils here.
